We are certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, or DBE, through FDOT. FDOT defines a DBE Company as being owned by individual(s) who are both socially and economically disadvantaged and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of the disadvantaged owners. As defined by FDOT, a socially and/or economically disadvantaged business owner is “…a member of one of the following presumptive groups – Black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian-Pacific Americans, Subcontinent Asian Americans, Women, and other groups found to be disadvantaged by the Small Business Association (SBA).” There is a very strenuous application process for becoming DBE certified through FDOT which ensures each certified company is legitimate and checks all of the appropriate boxes for becoming certified.

SBE, or Small Business Enterprise, is defined a little differently based on the agency issuing the certification. Many of the qualifications are similar amongst various issuing agencies, and often include limitations on the number of employees, annual gross sales, and requirements like being a locally independently owned and operated business. We are currently SBE certified through City of St. Petersburg, City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, Pinellas County, Port of Tampa Bay, and the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).

A WBE is a Women’s Business Enterprise, defined as a business predominately owned by a woman or group of women, and whose daily operations are the responsibility of a woman with technical expertise in the specific business industry. We are proud to be WBE certified through City of Orlando, City of Tampa, and the State of Florida.
